This Privacy Policy explains how Designing Media (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, stores and shares personal data when you visit designingmedia.com, create an account, buy a template or service, or contact support.
1. Who we are
Designing Media operates the online store at designingmedia.com. We sell digital website templates and related services (including optional Hostiko setup and support). For data-protection purposes we are the controller of personal data collected on this site.
- Privacy / support: support@designingmedia.com
- Website: https://designingmedia.com
- Support portal: https://designingmedia.com/support/
If you need our registered business name or postal address for a legal request, email the address above and we will provide it.
2. What we collect
We collect only what we need to run the store, deliver digital goods, take payment, prevent fraud, and answer support requests.
| Category | Examples | When |
|---|---|---|
| Checkout details | First name, last name, email, country, optional company | When you place an order (guest checkout is allowed) |
| Order records | Products, prices, discounts, order ID, payment status, download access | When you buy or request a refund |
| Account data | Login email, password hash, order history | Only if you create or use an account |
| Support data | Tickets, emails, screenshots you send, Hostiko install notes | When you contact us |
| Technical data | IP address, browser type, device, pages viewed, cart session, cookie IDs | When you browse, add to cart, or check out |
| Payment data | PayPal transaction IDs and payment status. We do not store full card numbers | When PayPal processes your payment |
We do not ask for street address, phone, or postal code for digital-only orders. We do not collect special-category data (health, religion, biometrics) and we do not buy marketing lists.
3. Legal bases (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are in the EEA, UK or a similar jurisdiction, we process personal data only where a legal basis applies:
- Contract — to take your order, send downloads, licenses and invoices, and provide included support.
- Legal obligation — tax, accounting, anti-fraud and consumer-law records.
- Legitimate interests — site security, improving checkout, understanding how the store is used (in a limited way), and defending legal claims. We balance this against your rights.
- Consent — non-essential cookies such as Google Analytics. You can refuse or withdraw consent at any time (see Cookies).
4. How we use your information
- Complete checkout and deliver files, license keys and receipts to your email
- Provide 6 months of author support and any paid Hostiko services you buy
- Process refunds under our Refund Policy
- Prevent fraud, abuse and payment disputes
- Keep the cart, login and checkout working
- Measure site usage with Google Analytics (see Cookies)
- Send order-related email only (receipts, downloads, support replies). We do not sell your data and we do not run a marketing newsletter unless you separately opt in.
5. Who we share data with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with processors who help us run the store, under contracts that require them to protect it:
- PayPal (PayPal, Inc. / PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l.) — payment processing. See PayPal Privacy Statement.
- WooCommerce / WordPress hosting — store, orders and site hosting on our servers.
- Google LLC — Google Analytics (measurement). See Google Privacy Policy.
- Tawk.to — optional live-chat widget. If you open chat, Tawk.to processes the messages and technical data you send. See Tawk.to Privacy Policy.
- Email / support tools — to send receipts and handle tickets.
- Professional advisers or authorities — only if required by law or to protect our rights.
ThemeForest / Envato is a separate marketplace. If you also buy from us there, Envato’s own privacy policy applies to that purchase.
6. Payments
Checkout payments are processed by PayPal (PayPal wallet or card via PayPal). Card details are entered on PayPal’s pages or widgets. We never see or store your full card number or CVV on designingmedia.com.
PayPal may process data in the United States and other countries under its own policy and applicable transfer tools (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).
7. Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use:
| Type | Purpose | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Shopping cart, checkout, login, security (WooCommerce / WordPress session cookies) | Yes — the store cannot work without them |
| Analytics | Google Analytics 4 (property G-2ZG7MSWTS6) to understand traffic and improve the site |
No — you can block it |
| Chat | Tawk.to cookies if you use the live-chat widget | No — do not open chat if you prefer not to use it |
You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Blocking essential cookies may stop checkout from completing. To opt out of Google Analytics you can use browser settings, Google’s opt-out tools, or an ad/tracker blocker.
We do not currently use advertising pixels (for example Meta or TikTok ads). If we add them later, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for consent.
8. International transfers
We sell worldwide. Your data may be processed in the country where our hosting and service providers operate, including outside the EEA/UK (for example the United States for PayPal or Google). Where GDPR applies, we rely on an adequacy decision or Standard Contractual Clauses (or equivalent) with those providers.
9. How long we keep data
- Orders and invoices — kept for as long as tax, accounting and consumer law require (typically up to 7 years).
- Accounts — until you ask us to close the account, then residual records as required by law.
- Support tickets — generally up to 24 months after the last reply, unless needed longer for a dispute.
- Cart / session cookies — usually days to weeks.
- Analytics — according to Google Analytics retention settings (typically 2–14 months of event data).
When data is no longer needed, we delete or irreversibly anonymise it.
10. Security
Checkout runs over HTTPS/SSL. Passwords are stored as hashes, not plain text. Access to orders is limited to people who need it for delivery and support. No website is 100% secure; if we become aware of a personal-data breach that must be notified by law, we will inform you and the relevant authority as required.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live (especially the EEA/UK), you may have the right to:
- Access — a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — ask us to delete data we are not legally required to keep
- Restriction / objection — limit or object to certain processing (including legitimate-interest processing)
- Portability — receive data you provided, in a common machine-readable format
- Withdraw consent — where we rely on consent (for example analytics cookies)
- Complain — to your local data protection authority
To exercise these rights, email support@designingmedia.com from the address used at checkout. We may need to verify it is you. We will respond within one month (or the period required by local law).
We may refuse deletion of order records we must keep for tax, refunds, licenses or fraud prevention.
12. California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, correct inaccurate information, and not be discriminated against for exercising those rights.
- We collect the categories listed in section 2 for the business purposes in section 4.
- We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined in the CPRA.
- We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that require a CPRA limit-use right.
Submit a request to support@designingmedia.com. You may use an authorised agent; we will still need to verify your identity.
13. Children
Our store is for adults buying business and website templates. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16 (or under 13 in the United States). If you believe a child has provided data, email us and we will delete it.
14. Contact and complaints
Privacy requests: support@designingmedia.com
Support: designingmedia.com/support
If you are in the EEA you may complain to your national supervisory authority. If you are in the UK you may complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk). We would appreciate the chance to resolve the issue first.
15. Changes
We may update this policy when the store, payment methods or the law changes. The “Last updated” date at the top is the current version. Material changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the site after an update means you have read the new version.
